Bedrock add-ons made to order.

What we build

Add-ons we build.

From a set of items to a mini-game with rules and a score. If your idea isn’t on the list, let’s talk.

Items and blocks

New things the regular game doesn’t have.

  • Weapons, tools and armour with their own properties
  • Blocks with their own behaviour and models
  • Recipes and chest loot
  • Textures and models in the game’s style

Example order: a set of magic weapons with their own effects and recipes.

Mobs and creatures

The ones players will meet in the world.

  • Mobs with their own models and animations
  • Pets, traders and bosses
  • Spawning in the right biomes
  • Drops and rewards for the win

Example order: a boss with several phases and its own arena.

Script API mechanics

Your own game rules in JavaScript.

  • Events and world rules
  • Menus and forms for players
  • Scores, quests and rewards
  • Saving player progress

Example order: a mini-game for Realms with a timer, points and rewards.

For worlds and servers

The add-on goes where your players play.

  • Add-ons for Bedrock Dedicated Server
  • Maps and worlds with built-in packs
  • Testing packs on Realms
  • Moving a mechanic from a Java server to Bedrock

Example order: build the same quest system for Bedrock that your Java server has.

Java and Bedrock

An add-on is not a mod.

Bedrock is a separate version of Minecraft with its own engine. Java mods don’t run on it, so everything is built from scratch as an add-on. An add-on is made of parts, and each one has its own job.

  • Behavior packBehaviour

Items, blocks, mobs, recipes, loot and mob spawning, all described in the game’s files.

  • Resource packLook

Models, textures, animations, sounds and texts in every language of the game.

  • Script APIJavaScript

Logic: events, menus, custom rules and saving player data.

Some Script API features in Bedrock are still experimental and have to be turned on in the world settings. We’ll tell you what can be done without experiments before work starts.

Comparison

Java mod or Bedrock add-on.

If you’re not sure which one you need, look at where your players play. A short comparison of the two versions of the game.

Example tasks

What people come to us with.

Typical orders, without client names. Messages like these are where an add-on starts.

Chat

  1. <Player1> We want new swords and armour for our Realm.
  2. [Ala Lab] We’ll make the items, recipes and textures and check how the pack works on Realms.
  3. <Player2> We need a boss with its own arena for a map.
  4. [Ala Lab] We’ll put together the model, animations, fight phases and a reward, and test it on phone and PC.
  5. <Player3> Our Java server has quests, and we want the same for Bedrock players.
  6. [Ala Lab] We’ll break down the mechanic and rebuild it with the Script API. Anything Bedrock can’t do, we’ll tell you up front.
  7. <Player4> A mini-game for friends: a timer, points and a winner.
  8. [Ala Lab] We’ll build it with the Script API as an add-on in the world, without third-party programs.
Write your idea

How we work

Four steps to a finished add-on.

At every step you know what is done and what comes next.

Path of an add-on

  1. Request

Describe the idea and where people will play: phone, console, Realms or a server. We reply within 8 hours.

  2. Estimate

We check what of it is possible in Bedrock and fix the scope, price and deadline before starting.

  3. Development and tests

We send you the pack as work progresses and test it in game on the devices that matter.

  4. Handover

The finished .mcaddon, an install guide and the support terms.

Price

What the price depends on.

Tick what your add-on needs and watch the amount of work grow. We quote a price once the task is clear and fix it before work starts.

What will your add-on have?

Approximate scope

Small

A few items or blocks.

  • A weapon set with recipes
  • Decorative blocks
  • New chest loot
Medium

A mob with its own model, or a scripted mechanic.

  • A pet with its own commands
  • Quests with rewards
  • A new mob in one biome
Large

A set of mechanics, mobs and items around one idea.

  • A boss with an arena and phases
  • A mini-game for Realms
  • Moving a system from a Java server

This is a guide, not a price. We name the exact cost and deadline once the task is clear.

Discuss an add-on

Questions

Questions about Bedrock add-ons.

How is an add-on different from a mod?

A mod runs on Java Edition, an add-on on Bedrock. They are different versions of the game, so a Java mod can’t be moved to Bedrock as is: everything is built from scratch.

Which devices will the add-on work on?

Everywhere Bedrock Edition runs: phones, tablets, consoles and Windows. We test on the devices people will actually play on.

Can the add-on go on Realms or a server?

Yes. The add-on is attached to a world, and the world can be uploaded to Realms or run on Bedrock Dedicated Server. We’ll discuss the limits of experimental features before we start.

How much does an add-on cost?

It depends on the number of items, mobs, models and mechanics. We quote a price once the task is clear and fix it, together with the deadline, before work starts.

Can I sell the add-on on the Marketplace?

Only official Mojang partners can sell on the Minecraft Marketplace. We can make an add-on for your own world, Realms or server.

What do I get at the end?

A .mcaddon or .mcpack file to install, a guide and, if needed, a world with the packs attached. Rights and support are agreed before we start.
