What we build

Mods we build.

From a single item to a whole game system. If your idea isn’t on the list, tell us about it anyway.

New content

Everything a player can hold, place or meet in the world.

  • Items, tools and armour with their own properties
  • Blocks, crafting recipes and machines
  • Mobs and bosses with their own behaviour
  • Recipes in JEI and REI, tooltips and advancements

Example order: a sword that sets mobs on fire and charges up with every kill.

Mechanics and rules

Changes to how the game itself plays.

  • Unusual survival rules: lives, limits, curses
  • Economy, quests and player progression
  • Commands and settings in a config file
  • Timers, events and random challenges

Example order: every 20 minutes the world changes one rule: gravity, hunger or damage.

Mods for videos and events

A mechanic to build a series, a challenge or an event with friends around.

  • Events you trigger with a command while filming
  • Challenges with unusual rules
  • Mods for series that run for weeks
  • Settings to repeat a take quickly

Example order: an earthquake starts on command, exactly when you are in frame.

Changes and ports

Your mod or someone else’s: we change it, fix it and move it to another game version.

  • Port to a newer or older version
  • New features on top of an existing mod
  • Bug and crash fixes
  • Compatibility with the other mods of a modpack

Example order: move a mod from 1.12.2 to 1.20.1 and keep every mechanic.

Versions and loaders

Any game version.

Old modpacks are ordered as often as new ones. The most common: 1.12.2, 1.18.2, 1.20.1 and 1.21.x. We pick the loader to fit your modpack.

  • Forge1.7.10 → 1.21.x

    The loader of most older modpacks: 1.7.10, 1.12.2, 1.16.5, 1.18.2, 1.20.1.

  • NeoForge1.20.1 → 26.3

The main loader of large modpacks on recent game versions.

  • Fabric1.14 → 26.3

Lightweight mods, client utilities and mods that move to new versions quickly.

Which versions each loader supports
1.7.101.12.21.141.16.51.18.21.20.11.21.x26.3 Forge1.7.10 → 1.21.x NeoForge1.20.1 → 26.3 Fabric1.14 → 26.3

Ordered most often

One mod for two loaders at once is possible too: the studio’s own mods Ala Industrial, Ala Logger and Ala Screen ship for Fabric and NeoForge from one codebase.

Example tasks

What people come to us with.

Typical orders, without client names. This is what the “one sentence” a mod starts from looks like.

  1. <Player1> Survival rules for a video series: every player has a limited number of lives, and a kill gives the right to revenge.
  2. [Ala Lab] We can do that: a life counter, a revenge command and everything in the config, so you can change the rules during the series.
  3. <Player2> Horror mechanics for a video: events on a timer and on command, so a scene is filmed in one take.
  4. [Ala Lab] Every event gets its own command, plus a timer. You trigger it exactly when the camera is ready.
  5. <Player3> New creatures and items on top of someone else’s Forge 1.12.2 mod, within its licence.
  6. [Ala Lab] First we check the licence, then we build the new things in so the main mod doesn’t break.
  7. <Player4> A mod for roleplay videos: the characters’ abilities and items, made for the script.
  8. [Ala Lab] Send the script and we’ll work out the abilities per character and test them on a server.

How we work

Four steps to a .jar.

At every step you know what is done and what comes next.

Path of a mod

  1. Request

Describe the idea in your own words and add links to examples. We reply within 8 hours.

  2. Estimate

We clarify the mechanic, the version and the loader, and fix the scope, price and deadline before starting.

  3. Development and tests

You get working builds along the way; we test the mod in single player and on a server and make changes from your notes.

  4. Handover

The finished .jar for the agreed version, an install guide and the support terms.

Price

What the price depends on.

Tick what your mod needs and watch the amount of work grow. We quote a price once the task is clear and fix it before work starts.

What will your mod have?

Approximate scope

Small

One item, block or command.

  • A sword with a special ability
  • A command with a cooldown
  • A new crafting recipe
Medium

Several linked mechanics: a new mob with its own drops and recipes.

  • A set of items around one mechanic
  • A simple economy with a shop
  • A challenge for a video series
Large

A whole game system: economy, progression and quests.

  • A mod for a series with its own rules and events
  • Progression with quests and rewards
  • Porting a big mod to another version

This is a guide, not a price. We name the exact cost and deadline once the task is clear.

Questions

Questions about custom mods.

Which Minecraft version can I order a mod for?

Any Java Edition version from 1.7.10 to 26.3. The most common orders are for 1.12.2, 1.18.2, 1.20.1 and 1.21.x. We choose the loader (Forge, NeoForge or Fabric) to fit your modpack.

How much does a custom mod cost?

The price depends on the amount of mechanics, the game version and the compatibility needs. We quote it once the task is clear and fix it, together with the deadline, before work starts.

Do I need a finished specification?

No. Describe what should happen in the game and add links to examples: videos, screenshots, similar mods. We’ll ask about the rest.

Will the mod work on a server?

Yes, if that is agreed: such a mod is installed on the server and by the players, and we test it in multiplayer. If players can’t install anything, a server plugin for Paper or Spigot usually does the job.

Can you change someone else’s mod?

Yes, if the mod’s licence allows it or you hold the rights to its code. Send a link to the mod, the game version and the list of changes, and we’ll estimate how to build them in.

What do I get at the end?

The finished .jar for the agreed version and loader, and an install guide. Source code, usage rights and support after release are agreed before we start.
